11.10.2012 ORGAN+ International Music Festival

Kaliningrad. 2012

October, 20. Kaliningrad Philharmonic concert hall

“Az I A”
Poetry, quotations from Olzhas Suleimenov’s Az And I, Chenghiz Aitmatov’s books A Day is Longer than an Age, A Piebald Dog Trotting Along Seashore, Goodbye, Gulsary, The White Boat and Cassandra’s Brand are reading by Natalia Arinbasarova, the Merited Artist of Russia and Kazakhstan. Concert is dedicated to memory of Cheghiz Aitmatov, a dear friend of Mikael Tariverdiev. Performing in the concert are: Winners of Mikael Tariverdiev International Organ Сompetition: Lada Labzina (Russia, Каzan), Hiroko Innoue (Japan), Andrey Bardin (Russia, Krasnoyarsk)

The name of this program has been prompted by brilliant Kazakh poet Olzhas Suleimenov’s book dealing with this united cultural space of Eurasia which we are presenting. The title - “Az And I” which in original Russian reads as “Asia”, actually carries a coded message: “Az” is for “I” in the old Slavic so the implication is that the interaction of Asia and Europe in this particular region dates back to times immemorial… The message of the program is to highlight the significance of modern Eurasianism. Presented in the program is music of the Eastern, Russian and Western composers , who were turning to the East not in search of Oriental themes and motifs but as to part of their own musical language.
